The Guidance department hosted its Spring Orientation for our incoming grade 9 students and their parents during the week of May 4th. This event was very successful as both parents and students were able to learn about the many services provided by our guidance department. After an informative power point presentation about Western Tech. and a brief presentation from our English and math teachers, guidance counsellors met with each individual family for personal consultation regarding course selections and any other pertinent information.
Spring Orientation is an annual event at Western which provides parents and incoming grade 9 students with an opportunity to once again visit our school and to learn about the many programs and services offered by our department. Moreover, it is also an opportunity to finalize all course selections, to ensure that our grade nines are properly placed in the appropriate courses, and to answer any questions that parents and/or their children may have about starting school in the fall. It is our goal to ensure that the transition from elementary school to high school be as smoothly as possible for all of our new grade 9 students and their parents. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in early September during our “Moving on up” event for all grade 9 students.
